Portfolio work
Greetings and a good late Sunday evening!
During Inno58h you will document all the activities that you do, all the material you collect and all the tools you use. To give you a structure for this documentation process we decided that each one of you will do a portfolio during the whole of Inno58h.
Here are the instructions for the portfolio.
We encourage you to start working (collecting material) for your portfolio already now. Each time you do Inno58h work, also add what you do to your portfolio. That way the portfolio will be created throug-out the process.

Guidelines
for portfolio
What
is a portfolio?
Portfolios
are widely used by artist, painters, photographers etc. In past 10
years the use of portfolios has also spread into many other fields,
for instance marketing. A portfolio is a way for a person to show
their work, show who they are and that they have done. It is a way to
market oneself, to market what knowledge and expertise one has.
In
a portfolio you collect all the work that you think gives proof of
your knowledge, your skills, your work, and what you are able to do.
The portfolio can contain different types of material, it can be
drawings, it can be videos, it can be different documents,
presentations, spreadsheets, mind maps, etc. Any material you believe
gives proof of what you can, what your knowledge, skills and
expertise is.
Think
of it this way. If somebody you don't know asks you what you know and
what you have done, you give them your portfolio and they will get
an idea of you and your work.
For
what do you use a portfolio in Inno58h and what can it look like?
In
your portfolio, which is individual work, you will collect all the
work you do during this course. You need to document, make
documentation of everything you do during the course up until you
arrive in Kunstenniemi.
Your
portfolio can in in and form you like, physical or electronic. The
important thing is that you need to be able to show it to anybody, at
any time. Your work, your skills, needs to be available to others so
they can take part of what you have done. In this way you share your
knowledge!
Deadlines
Your
portfolio needs to be done before your groups arrives in
Kunstenniemi. However, your portfolio needs to be visible to the
coaches at latest by the second working day, on the 14th of
February.
Remember
that the portfolio is individual work, but you are able to present it
in any way or form you like.

What
tools have you used? Brainstorming tools, innovation tools, service
design tools, design thinking tools, market analysis tools, etc? What
experience did you get from using the tools? For what purpose did you
use different tools? What did you want to find out? How did it work
out?
What
information have you collected? How did you collect information, and
what worked or did not work?
What
do you know about your client/customer? What have you found out? Who
are the customers, who are the competitors? What do you know about
the industry?
What
books have you read, what videos have you watched, what blogs have
you read? What have you learned about innovation, about your
client/customer, about...?

Instructions for your portfolio
Guidelines
for portfolio
A
portfolio is generally understood as a collection of various material
and work done by you during the course. With a portfolio you will
document your skills and achievements and also to help you to reflect
on what you have accomplished. In your portfolio you will collect a
variety of products, documents, presentations, spreadsheets, photos,
artwork, mind maps, etc. In other words, in your portfolio you will
collect all your material that you have produced up until
Kunstenniemi.
A
portfolio can be in the form of a physical collection of your work,
but it can also be in electronic form, for instance as a blog. You
need to either hand in, or make your portfolio available to the
coaches before you arrive at Kunstenniemi, otherwise you will not be
allowed to take part in the intensive days at Kunstenniemi.
One tip from us coaches is that you collect all your material in the blog, you can even make the blog your portfolio.
Examination
The portfolio is
individual work to be handed in. In order to pass the course, you
need to have the portfolio accepted.
Deadlines
Half
of your portfolio needs to be done before your groups first coaching
day. Your portfolio needs to be visible to the coaches during your
first coaching day.
The
whole portfolio needs to be done before your groups second coaching
day. Your portfolio needs to be visible to the coaches during your
second coaching day.
Content
of portfolio
Your portfolio
will contain information and knowledge about the part:
1)
For you first part you will collect all the materials you are doing
throughout the course, from your group meetings, from the coaching
days, from meetings with companies, etc. Every time you do work on
your task is an excellent source of material for your portfolio. So
start today, open a folder on your computer, start a blog, make a
first prezzi presentation, start filming a video – whatever way of
documentation feels good to you. Whenever you produce material, for
instance when reading and making notes, on your group meetings,
coaching days, etc., take for instance a photography of what you
produced, and place it in your portfolio.
2)
For the second part you will collect a lot of information and
knowledge about your company. You are free to present your findings
in any way you feel comfortable with - a mind map, a written report,
a prezi presentation, a video, etc. etc.
You
need to include the following topics in your portfolio.
- What do you know about the theme of your project?
- What do you know about your company?
- What do you know about the company's customers?
- What do you know about the industry of the company?
- What do you know about the competitors of the company?
The
important thing is that you collect information about each topic and
that you document your findings in some way and place it in your
portfolio.
3)
For your third part you will document experiences from using
different innovation, brain-storming, market-analysis tools. There
are many different tools for finding, organizing, sorting information
as well as tools for brain-storming and "thinking outside the
box".

Internet at Kunstenniemi
There is a wireless network in Kunstenniemi, but it sometimes has a life of its own. It works, but if you have a "mokkula", i.e. some kind of device which connects you to your own internet subsvription, bring it with you.

Practicalities & Kunstenniemi
Some practical details about Kunstenniemi:
If you wish, bring books and material (notes, broschures, annual reports etc.) you think you might need. Paper (big and small), post it-notes and pens etc. will be available.
The address is Kunstenniementie 233, 21130 Poikko. Discuss within your team members who will take a car and if you can catch a ride with a team member. The coaches will be heading out to Kunstenniemi by car, so seats will be available in a few cars. Ask the coaches!
We start the boot camp on Monday by having lunch at noon. On Wednesday we end the camp around noon and head back to Turku to meet with the clients. Presentations on the outcome of Kunstenniemi and therefore also your innovation will take place at Boost Turku starting at 13.30 PM.
